Stolen license plate arrest leads to arrest of two men with guns: Shaker Heights Police Blotter

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio – Concealed weapon port: Chagrin Boulevard

At 12:10 p.m. on January 3, officers were alerted by an automated license plate reader that a Toyota car was passing by displaying a plate that had been stolen from a Chevrolet in the Ashby and Milverton highways area. Officers stopped the car and arrested two 19-year-old men, one from Cleveland and the other from Garfield Heights. Police also seized two guns, one hidden in a garbage bag, and the other from the Cleveland man.

The Cleveland man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, and the Garfield Heights man was arrested for concealing stolen property. The Toyota was later confirmed to have been stolen in Maple Heights.

Curfew violation: Milverton Road

At 3:45 a.m. on December 31, police arrested a 16-year-old Cleveland boy for violating the curfew in the area of ​​Milverton and Menlo Roads.

Car theft: Lee Road

At 1 p.m. on January 1, a woman from Lyndhurst, 46, reported that someone had stolen her white 2012 Lincoln MKX while it was parked overnight at the intersection of Colwyn and Milverton Roads.

Obstruction of official business: boulevard Van Aken

At 5:10 a.m. on January 2, officers were dispatched to Lee Road and Van Aken Boulevard after reporting that a broken down vehicle had stopped on the road. When police arrived, the driver of the car, a 42-year-old Cantonese woman, refused to leave her vehicle and was wanted by Shaker Heights and Cleveland police for misdemeanors.

Officers arrested the woman on warrants and charged her with obstructing official business.

Obstructing Official Business: Lee Road

At 5:50 p.m. on January 2, the owner of Shaker Quality Foods, 3753 Lee Road, reported that a Cleveland woman, 37, presented her with fake ID as she attempted to cash a check for $ 625. Officers arrested the woman and summoned her for obstructing official business.

Aggravated threat: Lee Road

At 4:05 p.m. on January 2, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Lee Road, where a 23-year-old Shaker Heights man reported that his 18-year-old roommate’s boyfriend, a 22-year-old Cleveland man, reported. years old, displayed a gun while threatening him during an argument over the residence. The man from Cleveland left before the officers arrived.

OVI: Warrensville Center Road

At 10:45 p.m. on January 2, officers observed a Chevrolet drive through a red light at the intersection of Fairmount Circle and Warrensville Center Road. Officers stopped the car and learned that its driver, a man from Cleveland, 31, smelled of alcohol and was showing signs of intoxication.

The man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. He was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.075, below the state minimum for impaired driving of 0.08.

Threatening: Lee Road

At 7:50 a.m. on January 3, police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Lee Road, where a Shaker Heights woman, 43, reported that a 22-year-old Cleveland man threatened to shoot her apartment. The man left before the officers arrived.
